Dr. Mary DeShazer Fund for Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies

The Dr. Mary DeShazer Fund for Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) is named for the long-time professor of English Literature and WGSS at Wake Forest University. Dr. DeShazer made significant contributions to the fields of English and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and was the recipient of the Jon Reinhardt Award for Distinguished Teaching at Founder’s Day Convocation on Feb. 15, 2018.

The Fund supports the overall development of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies including the creation of new and innovative courses, faculty research and collaboration, and a variety of programming designed to critically address pressing issues of public concern.
